DAY 1/ DEPARTURE
Depart the US on your overnight flight to Italy.
DAY
2/ NAPLES
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The
balance of the day is at leisure. This evening, there will be an
orientation followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY
3/ NAPLES / CAPRI
Today, you will travel via hydrofoil to Capri, a small paradise rich in
history and natural beauty. Visit the Caesar Augustus gardens and view
the famed Faraglioni Rocks. If the weather permits, you will have the
opportunity for an optional visit to the Blue Grotto to behold
the breathtaking colors of this natural wonder.
DAY
4/ NAPLES / POMPEII / ROME
This morning, drive to Pompeii to view the well-preserved excavations
of this once prosperous Roman city. Visit the Temples of Apollo and
Jupiter and the Forum. Continue north Rome past the Bay of Naples, Mt.
Vesuvius and Monte Cassino Abbey to Rome.
DAY
5/ ROME
This morning, you will have an opportunity to explore the eternal
city on your own or you many choose to participate in a Papal Audience
(subject to availability). This afternoon, your tour of "ancient Rome"
takes you to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Arch of
Constantine.
Tonight, enjoy dinner in a typical Roman restaurant with wine and
music,
and an illuminated tour of Rome by night.
DAY
6/ ROME
This morning's
sightseeing includes an in-depth tour of the Vatican's priceless
collection of treasures. You will visit Raphael's rooms, the Tapestries
Gallery and the Maps Gallery. Continue to the Sistine Chapel,
where you will see Michelangelo's famous frescoes painted on the
ceiling
and behind the main alter. Walk through St. Peter's Square and visit
St. Peter's Basilica. This afternoon, take a walking
tour of the piazzas and fountains of Rome
including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona. Tonight's
dinner takes place in a typical Roman restaurant with wine and music,
then enjoy an illuminated tour of Rome by night.
DAY
7/ ROME / ASSISI / FLORENCE
This morning, depart for Assisi with its steep winding streets. Here
you will visit the Basilica of St. Francis. Your adventure continues as
you travel through the stunning panorama of Tuscany to the walled city
of Siena for an orientation tour. From here you will continue
to Florence where you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

8/ FLORENCE
Your morning sightseeing includes the Accademia, where Michelangelo's
David is housed. Walk to Duomo Cathedral and Baptistery to view
the"Gates of Paradise." Continue to Signoria Square and Ponte Vecchio,
the "Old Bridge." The afternoon is at leisure. Tonight, enjoy a dinner
and a
show at the Renaissance era Palazzo Borghese.
DAY
9/ FLORENCE
Full day at leisure to explore the city or the Uffizi Gallery, one of
the most famous art museums in the world. Pass your free time by
shopping
for Florentine specialties and souvenirs. This evening, enjoy dinner
at a typical Tuscan restaurant.
DAY
10/ FLORENCE / PISA / PADUA / VENICE
Enjoy a final spectacular view of Florence from Michelangelo Square,
before departing to Pisa to view the famous Piazza del Miracoli with
its Leaning Tower, Baptistery and Duomo. Travel on to Padua to visit
the Basilica of St. Anthony before reaching Venice. Dinner tonight
at a local restaurant.
DAY
11/ VENICE
Today begins with a walking tour of romantic Venice, including visits
to the Golden Basilica of San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark's
Square and the Doges' Palace. The balance of the day is free to explore
Venice on your own and perhaps take an optional gondola ride with
music. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY
12/ VENICE / VERONA / MILAN / LUGANO
Travel this morning to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet for a
brief tour. Your journey continues in Milan to visit to Sforza Castle
and view the famous Michelangelo's Pieta. You will also see Duomo
Cathedral
square and stroll through Victor Emmanuel Galleria. After traveling
north through the Italian Lakes, the adventure continues in
Switzerland.
Enjoy a panoramic tour of Lugano upon arrival.
DAY
13/ LUGANO
Today, your journey takes you though the beautiful Lake District where
you will experience picturesque lakes, towering mountains, and charming
villages. This afternoon, take the funicular railway to the peak of
Mount San Salvatore and enjoy magnificent views of the Swiss Alps and
surrounding lakes region. Enjoy a farewell drink before dinner at a
local restaurant.
DAY
14/ HOME
Depart this morning from Milan airport where you will bid a fond
farewell to Italy, taking with you wonderful memories of Italy and
Switzerland.
